AI picks, backtested.
A point-in-time portfolio drawn only from the QuantRank 8-pillar composite — the AI sizes its own basket each quarter, holding every pick that scores ≥65 (at least 5 names, no cap), inverse-volatility weighted.
Validation gates · how we know it isn’t luck
The adaptive book's lead over the best fixed-N basket (by_count[8]) is approximately -11.8pp (~-1% of total return). This excess is a tuning artifact from the in-sample grid sweep and is NOT out-of-sample confirmed. A positive DSR and Phi(DSR) >= 0.95 are necessary but not sufficient for OOS confirmation — the OOS-confirmation step requires a fresh live rebalance window not used during threshold selection.
Methodology caveats — weak-floor holdout + PBO correlation
OOS caveat: Purged-embargo holdout: winner selected on legs 0..29 (train Sharpe), evaluated on legs 31..39 (9 legs). Leg 30 purged; no separate embargo band required for a chronological train-before-test split (no train data follows the test set). WEAK FLOOR: 9 test legs is a minimal sample — a collapse (test_sharpe < 0 or trailing benchmark) FALSIFIES the config's forward edge; a positive read is encouraging but NOT proof. CPCV (full combinatorial purged cross-validation) is deferred pending longer OOS window. The holdout test set was NOT used during threshold selection (in_sample=False).
PBO note: The 12 configs share composite_min ∈ {55,60,65,70} × floor ∈ {1,3,5}. Columns are INTERNALLY CORRELATED: configs with similar thresholds (e.g. 65_1, 65_3, 65_5) select overlapping books and will have correlated return series. The CSCV PBO assumes independent strategies — a low PBO from near-duplicate columns over-states independence and MUST NOT be over-read as strong evidence. Treat the PBO as a structural-correlation diagnostic, not a standalone inferential gate.
AI-sized basket — this quarter 6 names (every pick scoring ≥65 enters; holdings stay while ≥55 (reduces unnecessary turnover); min 5, no cap). Replays all 7 live defense vetoes point-in-time— a closer proxy to the live product, but still not identical.
Current picks
as of 2026-05-15AI-sized basket — 6 stocks this quarter, inverse-volatility weighted. Top sector: Financials — 4 of 6. Your return = money-weighted return (MWR) since each holding entered the basket — accounts for the timing of rebalance adds and trims.

Backtest = raw top-by-composite picks, point-in-time — replays all 7 live defense vetoes point-in-time; still not the full live product. Illustrative backtest, not investment advice. This is a point-in-time PROXY of QuantRank's ranking rule, not a replay of the live composite: at each historical rebalance it re-runs the current frozen 8-pillar weights using only data filed on or before that date, but fundamental pillars use ANNUAL (10-K) figures in place of the live trailing-twelve-month basis, GICS sectors are assumed stable from today, and survivorship is corrected via the point-in-time membership ledger. The basket holds ONLY high-conviction names — Strong Buy / Buy rated, undervalued (margin of safety > 0), composite >= 50 and loss-chance <= 45 — taking the top names by composite among those (a name that decays out of the gate is dropped at the next rebalance). The recommendation + 6-method valuation layer is replayed point-in-time, with the fair-value staleness gate widened to ~15 months for the once-a-year 10-K cadence (vs the live 180-day gate). Six of the seven active accounting vetoes (Altman distress, Sloan accruals, net issuance, Beneish manipulation, Dechow F-score, and data-quality corruption) are replayed point-in-time against the PIT cross-section; non_reliance_filing (8-K Item 4.02) coverage is stated in meta.vetoes_replayed / meta.vetoes_not_replayed. Net figures charge a modeled per-side spread cost (10-25 bps on turnover) but are gross of additional market-impact slippage. The adaptive AI-pick book sizes itself each rebalance: it holds ALL high-conviction picks with composite score >= 65 (no ceiling), with a floor of 5 names, so holding count varies by quarter (uncap ratified 2026-06-11 — in-sample max book 16 over 40 rebalances; the former cap never bound fresh entries (max raw 13) and its carry-leg rank-slice exit was removed as the V55.0 -> V55.1 protocol amendment; A2-S spike tripwire: raw >= 25 in a single rebalance triggers reopening, registered #130; forward acceptance gates pre-registered). Incumbents are retained while scoring >= 55 to reduce turnover (V55 hysteresis band ratified 2026-06-11; the band is a turnover/implementation-cost device — no performance claims). non_reliance_filing (8-K Item 4.02) is replayed point-in-time via the pit_item402_history.parquet — names that filed an Item 4.02 in the trailing year at a historical rebalance are correctly excluded from the AI-pick basket. SELECTION FOOTPRINT: the adaptive rule's thresholds (composite_min=65 / hold_band=55 / floor 5 / uncapped) were grid-swept IN-SAMPLE on the same 40-leg window shown as the track record; the adaptive book's lead over the best fixed-N basket is approximately -11.8pp (~-1% of total return) and is a tuning artifact until confirmed on a fresh out-of-sample window. McLean-Pontiff (2016) is cited for decay of PUBLISHED factors; this rule was never published, so the relevant haircut is the out-of-sample decay term plus the in-sample-selection penalty above, not the ~32% post-publication figure. The Deflated Sharpe Ratio (n_trials=16, quarterly) is the primary inferential gate; the DSR result is stored in meta.validation on the next artifact rerun. In this 2016-2026 sample the adaptive AI-pick net line outperformed the S&P 500 (961 vs 401, both rebased to 100 at the start). The adaptive rule's thresholds were selected IN-SAMPLE on this same window — the out-of-sample edge is unknown until confirmed on a fresh window not used during threshold selection. A factor-tilted, sector-CONCENTRATED book (no per-sector cap) carries higher single-sector risk and can diverge from a cap-weighted index, in either direction, for long stretches. Any in-sample edge is concentration- and regime-driven — past performance, even favorable, does not predict future results.
